A Case of the Mondays

As a single mother holding down a full-time job while enrolled in grad school, I can tell you confidently that Mondays suck. I am already irritated with the children, in my feelings, not motivated at all to go play the “corporate game” whatsoever… and it’s not even 7 A.M. yet. Before I get too caught up in my struggle, I am reminding myself that feelings are a choice and I choose to take a few deep breaths and keep it moving. Progress does not always feel good. Real change pushes us past our comfort zones and encourages us to acknowledge when we are uncomfortable. So it’s the start of another work week, which means we will be presented with new opportunities to keep doing what works and stop doing what doesn’t. Remember to breathe (in through your nose and out through your mouth). Drink plenty of water throughout your day. Enjoy a piece of fruit. Laugh. Give yourself space to express your needs to others. Show yourself some compassion.
